Nugget developer LeminLimez has released a new add-on for iPhones running iOS 17.0 and later this Sunday afternoon called Pocket Poster that makes it possible for end users to apply custom community-made animated wallpapers to their device for an added level of personalization not seen on stock handsets.
Acting as a companion app for the already-available Nugget device customization toolbox (version 5.2.3 or later), Pocket Poster lets users apply these wallpapers without a jailbreak, which is particularly interesting given that these types of hacks have historically only been possible with jailbreaks.
To use Pocket Poster, users will need to initialize the tool via Nugget from the toolbox’s built-in fetch App Hash/UUID feature. This is accomplished by launching Nugget on your computer, plugging in your device, navigating to the Settings page, clicking on the Pocket Poster Helper button, and then lastly clicking the Detect button.
Once Pocket Poster has been configured, users can visit the Cowabunga community wallpapers page to discover animated wallpapers that interest them, download them, and then apply them to their device with just a few taps, unlocking interesting new wallpaper options that those who aren’t using hacks will drool over.
The community wallpapers website is already chock-full of user-contributed PosterBoard animated wallpapers, so there’s certainly no shortage of options for users to pick from. Best of all, since these wallpapers aren’t video wallpapers, they don’t have that much impact on your battery life. Only .tendies files are currently supported.
Once you’ve downloaded an animated wallpaper from the community wallpapers page, you can open the Pocket Poster app on your device, select the downloaded files from your Files app to import then, and then once imported, you can begin applying them from the native iOS Wallpapers interface, as shown above.
Those interested in giving the new Pocket Poster add-on a try can download it for free from the project’s GitHub page. Please note that a computer will be required for the initial setup via Nugget, so it doesn’t matter whether you use your machine or borrow someone else’s. Once set up, you can use Pocket Poster indefinitely.
