Jailbreak tweak developer Elias Limneos is out with a big update this week in the form of BioProtect XS version 4.6-26, which he says officially adds support for iOS 16 devices.
For those who don’t know, BioProtect XS is a comprehensive personal security jailbreak tweak that lets users lock individual apps with biometrics so that they can’t be launched from the Home Screen without first passing an authentication test, be it Face ID or Touch ID.
Currently, checkm8 bootrom exploit-susceptible devices including the A9-A11 chip-equipped varieties, are the only devices capable of being jailbroken on iOS & iPadOS 16 via palera1n. Consequently, these are the only devices that can take advantage of BioProtect XS on this firmware.
It’s worth noting that Face ID and passcode have to be disabled on the iPhone X before jailbreaking with palera1n on iOS 16, but with a jailbreak tweak called Checkl0ck by @foxfortmobile, you can artificially re-enable Face ID functionality and use it with BioProtect XS in the latest update.
In addition to adding support for iOS & iPadOS 16, the latest version of BioProtect XS also seems to fix an issue with Face ID scanning animations. That said, even if you aren’t using an iOS or iPadOS 15 device, this update is recommended for all existing users.
BioProtect XS version 4.6-26 is available right now from Limneos’ personal repository right now and will soon be pushed to the BigBoss repository. If you’re not already using Limneos’ personal repository, then you can add it to your package manager app of choice by using the URL provided below:
