If there’s one thing you can count on every Sunday morning, it’s iDB’s weekly iPhone jailbreaking and hacking roundup where we discuss all the latest jailbreak tweak releases and news in this space.
In this roundup, we’ll show you everything new spanning the week of Monday, March 6th through Sunday, March 12th.
Important stuff from this week
Tweak injection demoed on Fugu15
The Fugu15 jailbreak for arm64e devices (iPhone XS and newer) running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1 is known as a developer jailbreak namely because it doesn’t have tweak injection and still has some nasty bugs that need to be dealt with, but at least one of those issues is moving forward in the right direction.
With ElleKit, it seems like tweak injection could be coming to the Fugu15 jailbreak and jailbreaks that are based on it, such as ra1ncloud.
You can learn more about ElleKit and what this means for jailbreaking in our full news post.
Wi-Fi bug fixed on Fugu15 jailbreak
Following the news that tweak injection had been achieved on the Fugu15 jailbreak tool for arm64e devices running iOS 15.0-15.4.1, TrollStore developer opa334 managed to fix the dreaded Wi-Fi bug and post a fix to GitHub.
Together, these improvements bring us one step closer to the possibility of Fugu15 becoming a viable public jailbreak, but there’s still more work to do first before that happens.
You can find out more about this Wi-Fi bug fix achievement in our full news post.
Everything you need to know about palen1x
Even if you don’t have a Mac, you can still jailbreak with palera1n by using the palen1x USB flash drive-based installer. It makes a bootable drive that you can boot into and jailbreak your compatible A9-A11 chip-equipped iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-16.x on demand.
In our in-depth post, we talk about what palen1x is, how it works, and whether or not you should consider using it in a pinch.
IPA Ranger
With the new IPA Ranger app, you can easily use the ipatool utility via a graphical user interface instead of a command line interface.
This utility lets you download .ipa files directly from the App Store using your Apple ID.
You can learn more about IPA Ranger and where you can get it from in our full review post.
Everything else from this week
BioProtect XS: The popular BioProtect XS app security jailbreak tweak by Elias Limneos added official support for iOS 16 devices, namely those using the palera1n jailbreak (full news post)
That brings us to the end of this week’s iPhone jailbreaking and hacking roundup, but we’ll be right back at it again next weekend with a roundup that looks and feels just like this one, albeit with refreshed meat and potatoes to suit the times we’re about to experience.
