Former Odyssey Team lead developer CoolStar left the jailbreak community for good on Monday, leaving behind a long Tumblr post about what has been going on and her reasons for leaving.

The news also included the announcement that the Cheyote jailbreak for iOS 15.0-15.1.1 had been officially cancelled and that it would not be released.

You can find out more about the implications of these announcements in our full news post.

Speculation arising from comments shared in the XinaA15 Discord server Friday afternoon suggest that continued progress on the Fugu15 Max jailbreak tool by @opa334 has prompted @xina520 to consider discontinuing the XinaA15 jailbreak.

XinaA15 is a developer-centric beta jailbreak for arm64e devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1, while Fugu15 Max stands to be superior as an eventual general public jailbreak for arm64e devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1. Currently, Fugu15 Max is only a developer-focused beta.

This update isn’t required for everyone since anyone can simply update Sileo themselves, but newer users could save themselves the additional step by using the latest Odyssey release.

A new, but unconfirmed rumor on Tuesday suggested that Apple’s upcoming iOS & iPadOS 17 update could drop support for all checkm8 bootrom exploit-vulnerable devices up to and including the iPhone X. But a conflicting rumor the very next day suggested just the opposite.

If true, then this means jailbreak tools such as checkra1n and palera1n will be unable to be updated to support iOS & iPadOS 17 since those devices won’t be able to run iOS & iPadOS 17.

You can learn more about this rumor in our full news post.
