2018 has been a busy year for me, speaking at numerous SentryOne and PASS events. With the summer around the corner, I have no intention of slowing down, and wanted to share where I’ll be next!
First, on Wednesday, June 6th, I will be presenting “Rapid Analysis of Wait Statistics with SentryOne.” I was given the opportunity to host “Performance Troubleshooting Using Wait Statistics” with Paul Randal recently, and my session will be the follow-up. I’ll be focusing on performance troubleshooting using wait statistics, leveraging SentryOne’s solutions.

A few years ago, I learned of local developer-centric event called Chicago Code Camp. Last year, my good friend Jes Borland (b|t) presented the keynote “Busy is a Four Letter Word,” so I had to attend! (In the recording, you can see me front & center!) The event felt very much like a SQL Saturday and I enjoyed it tremendously.
So when this year’s Call for Speakers opened, I decided to submit. I’ve focused heavily on growing new speakers in the SQL community, so why not offer the same presentation at Chicago Code Camp? And it was accepted!
So if you’re in the Chicagoland area on Saturday, June 9th, why not attend Chicago Code Camp and end your day with my session “Everyone Has a Story to Tell: Developing Your First Presentation?“

Finally, I will be crossing the northern border into Wisconsin, to visit the Wisconsin SQL Server User Group in Milwaukee, on June 12th. I will be presenting “Why UDFs & Nested Views Hinder Query Optimizer” at their midday meeting. I really enjoy this session, so am happy to be given another opportunity to present it! Never been to a lunchtime User Group meeting, so am curious to see how that pans out too.

That’s quite a bit, all in early June! And I have several things in the works for the remainder of the summer! Wherever I wind up, sure hope to cross paths with you at one of these, or any number of other future events!
