Sileo updated to version 2.4.2 with several bug fixes & improvements

The Sileo Team pushed an update for the Sileo package manager on Monday, officially bringing it up to version 2.4.2.

Upon reaching out to Sileo Team lead developer Amy While, we learned that the latest version of Sileo introduces several bug fixes and improvements, including the following:

– Proper support for rootless
– Improved Canister support, now using API v2
– Search history is now shown
– Custom theme creation
– Decompression speed ups
– fix installing packages from deb
– Overall speed ups

The updated version of Sileo is now available for anyone to download from the official Sileo repository on essentially any public jailbreak, and is recommended for all users. This release channel is different from Sileo Beta and Sileo Nightly, which we discussed the differences between in a separate post. Depending on the jailbreak you use, you might prefer a different Sileo build.

Sileo has long been associated with jailbreaks by the Odyssey Team, but it has branched out to other jailbreaks over the years. More recently, Sileo became the default package manager on newer jailbreaks like Fugu15 Max and palera1n because Cydia hasn’t been updated to support iOS & iPadOS 15 and later.

Not only is Sileo still actively maintained today, but it’s also wildly popular among jailbreakers because of its zippy speed and pleasing aesthetics, among other characteristics that help it stand out from the crowd. Sileo is fully open source.

If you’re not already using Sileo, then chances are you can add it to your jailbroken device by adding the repository below:

If your jailbreak already uses Sileo as the primary package manager app, then you should find the update waiting for you via the Procursus repository. The only jailbreak that Sileo no longer officially supports, as of this past weekend, is XinaA15.
