6 things we expect to see at the August 2025 Made By Google Event

Google surprised us by announcing that Made by Google would occur two months earlier than usual in 2024, but apparently, this is the start of a new trend.

Made by Google 2025 will kick off at 1 PM ET (10 AM PT) on August 20, 2025. You can watch the official livestream to see the event in real time.

Just like the previous Made by Google events, leaks have given us a good idea of what to expect to see revealed on August 20.

Google officially confirmed that it would reveal new Pixel 10 phones, and we can expect a new Pixel Watch on top of this.

However, there are indicators of Pixel Buds 2a and Material 3 Expressive for Android OS.

Here’s everything we’re expecting to see at the Made by Google event.

Pixel 10

No flat camera bar here

Forget the leaks and rumors, Google has officially confirmed that the Pixel 10 is coming on August 20.

While this comes as no surprise, it makes it the only guaranteed reveal at Made By Google this August.

Google has unveiled the back of the Pixel 10, which looks nearly identical to the Pixel 9, but with three camera lenses.

While we haven’t seen official specs yet, leaks appear to corroborate rumors that the Pixel 10 will feature a triple rear camera array, the first base Pixel model to do so.

The Pixel 10 lineup will also sport the new Tensor G5 chip, which may improve the power efficiency on the Pixel 10.

Other hardware leaks indicate the Pixel 10 will be overall a minor upgrade over the Pixel 9.

You may want to brace yourself for a reveal akin to the Samsung Galaxy S25.

Qi2 enthusiasts also shouldn’t hold their breath, as all signs point towards Google copying Samsung and only introducing Qi 2.2 magnetic charging to its first-party phone cases.

Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL

Better, but not bigger

Google hasn’t officially revealed any details about the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL beyond a message informing us it’ll reveal “the latest additions to our Pixel portfolio of devices.”

However, leaked specs have given us a good idea of what to expect. That means the same size chassis and display, and minor upgrades everywhere else, with one exception.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL is rumored to have the largest battery cell on any Pixel phone.

While the jump from the Pixel 9 Pro XL isn’t massive (5,060mAh to 5,200mAh), it’s an indicator that Google is working to stabilize the Pixel lineup’s turbulent battery life history.

The Pixel 10 Pro’s battery will be 170mAh larger than the Pixel 9 Pro’s.

Beyond this, you shouldn’t expect much groundbreaking news about the premium Pixel 10 phones at Made by Google.

We may see a price increase, which could lead us to suggest skipping this lineup entirely, but we think that you should expect more of the same when it comes to Pixel phones this August.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold

Google’s third-generation foldable looks to build on its predecessor’s success

Just like its rigid siblings, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s specs have been comprehensively leaked.

While the Google Pixel 9 Fold marked a huge leap forward for Google’s foldable phones, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold looks to build on its predecessors’ improvements in important ways.

It should debut alongside the rest of the Pixel 10 series on August 20.

Leaks have indicated the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will have a bigger cover display, a brighter display, a bigger battery, and an IP68 rating.

Google doesn’t seem to be attempting to compete for the thinnest foldable, but to prove it’s a reliable foldable maker.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen no sign that Google will fix our biggest gripes with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, apart from the battery life.

However, an IP68 rating is huge news as it would make the Pixel 10 Pro Fold almost entirely dust and water-resistant.

We haven’t seen any sign of software changes for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold yet. While Google adjusts the Android experience slightly for its Pixel phones, it’s not as dramatic as those we see on other Android foldables.

Pixel Watch 4

Prepare for a workout upgrade

The Pixel Watch 4 should debut alongside the Pixel 10 phones this August, but leaks aren’t as detailed as those covering the phones.

However, from what we know, if you’re unimpressed by what you’re reading about the Pixel 10 series so far, your expectations are perfectly set.

Signs point towards a bigger battery for two new models (41mm and 45mm), a charging speed boost, and thinner bezels.

The Pixel Watch 4 should also debut with Wear OS 6 and Material 3 Expressive. This means smoother animations and better use of the watch’s screen space.

The Pixel Watch 4 looks to keep the same Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset it’s used for its two previous watches. This means the Pixel Watch 4’s performance will be identical to its predecessor.

What we are looking forward to at Made By Google is a deep breakdown of its new software features.

The same report containing the Pixel Watch 4’s specs indicated that the Pixel Watch 4 will give you detailed, customizable guidance before, during, and after workouts.

You shouldn’t need to rely on third-party apps for workout metrics, but we’ll need to see this software in action first.

Pixel Buds 2a

A much-needed refresh of Google’s budget earbuds

All we know about the new Pixel Buds hardware at Made By Google is a claim by a leaker on X that details the colors of the Pixel Buds 2a. This is the only information we’ve uncovered about the Pixel Buds 2a.

However, a refresh seems likely as 2021’s Pixel Buds A-Series have been overtaken by affordable earbuds with more features, including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).

As the Pixel Buds Pro 2 launched in August 2024, we don’t think it’s likely to see a refresh of Google’s premium earbuds.

However, Pixel Buds 2a with ANC seems like a likely reveal, considering how outdated the Pixel Buds A-Series are.

Material 3 Expressive

Google’s redesign should reach the Android OS

Google has been drip-feeding Material 3 Expressive into its apps for months, from Google Keep on Wear OS to Google Chrome on Android.

Nearly every Google app has been updated with elements from Material 3 Expressive, and while some changes are subtle, some have completely changed how the app looks and feels.

However, we expect Google to bring Material 3 Expressive to the OS sooner rather than later, alongside the apps the Material 3 Expressive fairy hasn’t blessed yet.

We’re unsure whether Google will launch Material 3 Expressive for Android OS at Made by Google or simply give us more hints.

Nevertheless, if you’re excited for the biggest redesign to Android in years, clear your calendar for August 20.

Made by Google 2025 has a whiff of mundanity about it

Google looks to be doubling down on what made last year’s Pixel devices successful, but this means you shouldn’t get too excited about new Pixel hardware this year.

If you’re sporting the latest Pixel hardware, you may want to hold onto it for a bit longer.

Nevertheless, there’s a lot of exciting potential at Made by Google, so tune in to the livestream on your phone or computer to catch all the reveals as they happen.
