SafetyDetectives recently had the opportunity to interview Oleg Sadikov, Founder and CEO of DeviQA, a global leader in Quality Assurance (QA) services. Over the past 14 years, Oleg has transformed DeviQA from a small team of five engineers into a trusted QA partner for businesses worldwide. DeviQA goes beyond traditional testing by focusing on proactive bug prevention and offering comprehensive QA support across industries like fintech, healthcare, and cybersecurity.

In this interview, Oleg discusses DeviQA’s unique approach to automation, the role of AI in shaping the future of QA, and how the company is preparing for the shift toward autonomous testing. He also sheds light on the company’s latest innovation, Owlity.ai, a fully autonomous AI-driven QA platform designed to revolutionize software testing.

Can you tell us about DeviQA’s mission and how it has evolved since its founding over 14 years ago?

Many people think Quality Assurance and testing are the same, but they’re not. Our mission is to improve product quality significantly by preventing bugs before they appear, acting proactively rather than reactively.

DeviQA isn’t just a testing company, it’s your QA partner. Over the past 14 years, we’ve grown from a small team of 5 engineers to becoming a global leader in Quality Assurance.

What distinguishes DeviQA from other QA and software testing companies in the industry?

There are quite a few differences:

  • We’re a holistic quality assurance company, not just a testing agency.
  • You own all IP we create from day 1
  • Career QA professionals with industry-leading retention of 96%
  • Transparent pricing, no hidden gotchas
  • Proactive support and customer care – Comfortable working in a regulated industry

Automation testing has become a critical part of QA. How does DeviQA approach automation, and what tools or frameworks are you currently using to stay ahead of industry demands?

It’s important to understand one key point: test automation is a powerful tool that’s essential for most projects. However, bad automation is worse than no automation. Many companies invest in automation only to end up with flaky tests, causing developers to spend half their day fixing random failures.

The primary goal of test automation is to speed up regression testing. At DeviQA, we have experience with over 40 test automation tools, including Playwright and Cypress.

We follow more than 20 best practices to build stable automation solutions that run dozens of tests in parallel, enabling you to release multiple times a day with confidence in the results.

With your experience across industries like fintech, healthcare, and cybersecurity, what unique testing challenges have you faced, and how did DeviQA overcome them?

These are highly regulated, which requires us to pay special attention to compliance, security, and reliability. Each sector presents unique challenges.

  • In fintech, we ensured PCI DSS and GDPR compliance while securing payment systems with rigorous testing and automation.
  • For healthcare, we validated HIPAA compliance, safeguarded patient data, and ensured seamless system integration.
  • In cybersecurity, we conducted vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and stress tests to handle evolving threats.

As QA processes evolve, how do you see the role of AI and machine learning impacting the future of software testing?

We take AI seriously, it’s a daily tool that helps us reduce about 40% of routine tasks, like code reviews, generating ideas for new testing scenarios, and code assistance, allowing us to focus on strategic, high-value activities, ensuring faster delivery and superior quality in software testing.

Looking ahead, what key trends or technologies do you think will shape the future of QA, and how is DeviQA preparing for them?

Autonomous testing is the future. In 5 years, 90% of testing will be powered by AI. We want to shape this future, which is why we started developing Owlity.ai – a fully autonomous AI-driven SaaS product. By staying ahead of the curve, we aim to empower businesses with smarter, faster, and more reliable QA solutions.
