There are 4 options to choose from.
- Shut Down –
As all of you are aware of this. The laptop shuts down the operating system. When you want to reuse the laptop again you need to turn on the laptop and go through the boot-up process. And you need to wait for hardware to initialize and startup programs to load. You can use this when you don’t want to save anything and direct power off your laptop. - Sleep –
Sleep is a power-saving state. All the actions are stopped and any open documents and applications are put in memory. When you turn on the laptop, it can quickly resume normal, everything will be right where we left off, including all the open documents and the running applications. You can use this option when you don’t want to use the laptop for a shorter period of time. - Hibernate –
Hibernate mode will saves your open documents and running the application to your hard disk and shuts down the laptop, so it uses zero power. When you turn on the laptop again, it loads the previous state from the hard disk to the memory. You can use this when you need to save the battery and keep all the open documents and running applications safe. - Do Nothing –
As the word only says, it does nothing. But this may harm your laptop if you choose this option.
You all can vary these options according to your need that is when the device is charging and on battery, you can choose any of the above options. Below the steps are shown to navigate to these options.
Steps to Follow :
Step-1: Search for the Power & sleep settings in the startup menu and click on it to open.
Step-2: Click on the Additional power settings available on the right side.
Step-3: Click on the Choose what closing the lid does.
Step-4: Choose any one option from the list for the On battery and the Plugged in.
Step-5: Click on the Save changes to save the settings.
If you want to change the shutdown settings. Follow the below steps.
Steps to Follow :
Step-1: Click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Step-2: You can tick or untick the options according to your need and save the changes.
