Java ZipEntry getTime() function with examples

The getTime() function is a part of java.util.zip package. The function returns the Last Modified Time of a specific ZipEntry passed as parameter.
The function returns long value, which represents the Last Modified time of the ZipEntry (when the file was last Modified) or -1 if last Modified time is not specified.
If the ZipEntry is read from ZIP file or ZIP file formatted input stream then this is the last modified time else last modification time is read from the entry’s date and time fields.
Function Signature :

public long getTime()

Syntax :

zip_entry.getTime();

Parameters :No parameter is required for this function.
Return value :The function returns long value, which represents the Last Modified time of the ZipEntry .
Exceptions :The function does not throw any exception.0

Below programs illustrates the use of getTime() function

Example 1: We will create a file named zip_file and get the zip file entry using getEntry() function and then get the LastModifiedTime of the specified ZipEntry.”file.zip” is a zip file present in f: directory. we will take a “.zip” file as ZipEntry

// Java program to demonstrate the
// use of getTime() function

import java.util.zip.*;
import java.util.Enumeration;
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.nio.file.attribute.*;

public class solution {
    public static void main(String args[])
    {
        try {
            // Create a Zip File
            ZipFile zip_file = new ZipFile("f:\\file1.zip");

            // get the Zip Entry using
            // the getEntry() function
            ZipEntry entry = zip_file.getEntry("file.zip");

            // Get the LastModifiedTime
            // using the getTime()
            // function
            long input = entry.getTime();

            // Display the LastModifiedTime
            System.out.println("LastModifiedTime : " + input);
        }
        catch (Exception e) {
            System.out.println(e.getMessage());
        }
    }
}

Output:

LastModifiedTime : 1551033735858

Example 2: We will create a file named zip_file and get the zip file entry using getEntry() function and then get the LastModifiedTime of the specified ZipEntry.”file.zip” is a zip file present in f: directory. we will take a “.cpp” file as ZipEntry

// Java program to demonstrate the
// use of getTime() function

import java.util.zip.*;
import java.util.Enumeration;
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.nio.file.attribute.*;

public class solution {
    public static void main(String args[])
    {
        try {
            // Create a Zip File
            ZipFile zip_file = new ZipFile("f:\\file1.zip");

            // get the Zip Entry using
            // the getEntry() function
            ZipEntry entry = zip_file.getEntry("file1.cpp");

            // Get the LastModifiedTime
            // using the getTime()
            // function
            long input = entry.getTime();

            // Display the LastModifiedTime
            System.out.println("LastModifiedTime : " + input);
        }
        catch (Exception e) {
            System.out.println(e.getMessage());
        }
    }
}

Output:

LastModifiedTime : 1544189602654
