HomeDisplay is a brand new jailbreak tweak that places a second status bar beneath the stock iOS status bar on your Home screen. The secondary status bar includes the current date on the left-hand side of the bar, with the current temperature on the opposite side.
HomeDisplay also features the ability to showcase the now playing track, and it works with streaming services like Spotify. We have a full video walkthrough of HomeDisplay in action. Take a look inside to see how it works…
After installation, you’ll see the HomeDisplay nestled right under the stock iOS status bar. The HomeDisplay is only displayed while on the Home screen, and disappears whenever you’re not on the Home screen.
For a tweak with so much potential, I was a bit disappointed with the relative lack of options or customization for HomeDisplay. While there is a preference panel there, it contains one option — a kill switch — and you’re forced to respring any time you utilize it.
Perhaps there will be updates to the tweak, but I feel there was a huge opportunity missed here with regard to options. And at $2 on Cydia’s BigBoss repo, it’s quite pricy for what it does. Hopefully the developer will see to it that the tweak is fleshed out with more options. Until then, I recommend you hold off on HomeDisplay. It’s an interesting concept, but quite lackluster in action. What do you think?
