It seems likely that Apple could implement an official Dark Mode feature for iOS 13, so wouldn’t it be nice if you could get the same aesthetic in your Cydia app?
If you’re on board with the aforementioned thought process, then you might appreciate a new jailbreak tweak called Turkey by iOS developer LaughingQuoll. As depicted in the screenshot examples above, Turkey brings a sleek Dark Mode experience to the Cydia package manager.
While some Dark Mode-centric jailbreak tweaks offer extensive customization options, Turkey does not. The idea here is to provide a jailbreak tweak that ‘just works’ when installed rather than overwhelming the user with long lists of options.
One of the things we like about Turkey is that it gives Cydia a pitch-black appearance rather than an off-black dark background. This is an advantage on handsets with OLED display panels, such as the iPhone X, as it reduces battery consumption by a decent amount.
Aesthetically-pleasing trim colors accentuate the rest of
the Cydia interface, such as blue for the selected tab at the bottom of the app
and gray for the plethora of dividers that appear between content in the Changes
and Sources tabs.
You can certainly install Turkey on its own if you wanted
to, but it’s best used in tandem with other Dark Mode tweaks to give the rest
of iOS a darker coat of paint. The developer recommends NoctisIX for this
purpose, adding that Noctis12 will be coming soon with more improvements.
If you’re interested in trying Turkey, then you can download it for free from Cydia’s Packix repository. Turkey doesn’t come with any options to configure and is compatible with all jailbroken iOS 10 and 11 devices.
