Spotify Music is perhaps one of the most popular alternatives to Apple Music on the iOS platform, but if you sport a jailbroken handset, then you probably enjoy the thought of customizing the Spotify app.
Assuming you fall under the category mentioned above, a new free jailbreak tweak called Xanify by iOS developer Codey Moore might be of interest. This tweak lets you address several pain points in Spotify and customize the app to your liking.
After you’ve installed the tweak, you’ll find some options you can configure in the Settings app:
Here, you can:
- Disable Genius/Behind the Lyrics in the Now Playing interface
- Hide the output device picker from the Spotify interface
- Prevent duration labels from fading away
- Hide the Status Bar from the Spotify interface
- Set a custom following count
- Set a custom follower count
While the last two options are purely intended for good and fun, Spotify users will ultimately enjoy having access to the other settings. Spotify’s Behind the Lyrics feature is a common pain point for many users, and the output device picker is somewhat useless if you don’t have other devices to stream to.
The other options offer creeper comforts, depending on your personal preference, and more options could be added in the future upon request.
If you use Spotify and you’re interested in customizing the in-app experience, then you should give Xanify a try. It’s available for free from Cydia’s Packix repository and works on all jailbroken devices with the official Spotify Music app installed on them.
