VolVibes brings customizable haptic feedback to your iPhone’s volume buttons

If you’ve recently jailbroken on iOS 13 and you’re looking for new ways to personalize your pwned handset, then one place you could start your search is with a newly released jailbreak tweak dubbed VolVibes by iOS developer Ethan Whited.

As the name implies, VolVibes introduces haptic feedback when pressing either of your iPhone’s volume buttons. The concept certainly isn’t new, but VolVibes sets itself apart as it integrates configuration options that competing tweaks simply don’t have.

Upon installing VolVibes, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle VolVibes on or off on demand
  • Configure the volume step (how much the volume level changes with each button press)
  • Configure the vibration setting:
    • Soft
    • Light
    • Medium
    • Heavy
    • Rigid
  • Enable or disable the iOS 13 volume HUD in its entirety

The developer includes a Respring button at the top right of the tweak’s preference pane that lets you save any changes you make on demand.

While VolVibes isn’t the first tweak to bring haptic feedback to the volume buttons on modern iPhones, we think it offers a nice suite of options that promote user configuration and usability. Then again, there are free alternatives out there that offer few or no options to configure, so choose wisely.

Those interested in trying VolVibes out for themselves can download it for free from the Havoc repository via their preferred package manager. Moreover, the tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices.

Will you be giving your iPhone’s volume controls a touch of haptic feedback with VolVibes? Let us know in the comments section below.
