Vartaman periodically updates your iPhone’s wallpaper to keep it looking fresh

If you’re anything like me, then you probably like changing your wallpaper periodically to keep your iPhone’s appearance looking fresh over time. On the other hand, finding the right wallpaper can be a long and daunting task for many.

Here to help with this dilemma is a newly-released jailbreak tweak called Vartaman by iOS developer P2KDev, which aims to automatically replace your handset’s wallpaper on a designated time cycle such that it’s always changing throughout the day.

As you’ll see in the screenshot examples above, Vartaman can be used to change your wallpaper every morning, afternoon, evening, and night with a new image from a source of your choice. The tweak even uses a darkened banner to let you know when it was recently changed, which we think is a nice touch.

Upon installation, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure Vartaman to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Choose the type of wallpaper zoom you want
  • Resize the image to fit your screen type
  • Show a notification when the wallpaper updates
  • Configure a custom image blur
  • Configure a morning image schedule
  • Configure an afternoon image schedule
  • Configure an evening image schedule
  • Configure a nighttime image schedule
  • Choose whether the wallpaper is randomized for the Lock screen, Home screen, or both
  • Configure a custom wallpaper filter to meet your interest criteria
  • Forcefully randomize wallpaper on demand
  • Configure an Activator gesture for changing your wallpaper

For each of the daily wallpaper schedules, you can configure the following options:

  • Enable or disable setting a wallpaper for the specified time
  • Select a source for your wallpaper
  • Configure an automatic image mood
  • Select the time for when the wallpaper will change
  • Save the image to your Camera Roll after it switches
  • Force the update on demand

As far as wallpaper sources are concerned, Vartaman allows the following sources to be used:

  • Automatic
  • Unsplash Daily
  • Bing Daily
  • Locally-stored albums

The developer provides a Respring button at the top right of the interface such that you can save any changes you make to the preference pane. It is recommended that you use this button after every adjustment to ensure that it gets kept.

At first glance, it appears as if Vartaman covers all your bases. You can have a custom wallpaper implemented up to four times per day from various sources, including local and online. With that in mind, you’ll always have something new to look at.

If you’re interested in trying Vartaman, then you can download it from the Havoc repository for $1.99. The tweak supports all jailbroken iOS 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 devices.
