Hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd published the official release of unc0ver v3.0.0 to GitHub on Friday, officially bringing the tool of out its beta stages. The move came shortly after the release of unc0ver v3.0.0 beta 51, which brought with it a small number of changes.
Pwn20wnd announced both of the updates Friday afternoon via Twitter:
According to the official changelog on Pwn20wnd’s GitHub page, unc0ver v3.0.0 beta 51 and the final public release encompass the following changes:
04/19/2019 – v3.0.0 beta~51 was released for public testing with the following changes:
– Clean up
– Update jailbreak-resources to improve the performance and fix a kernel memory leak
– Display the bytes when written to the kernel memory in the status message
– Fix the icon cache issue in RootFS Restore (e.g. Cydia staying on the Home screen after restoring a root filesystem)04/19/2019 – v3.0.0 was released for production with the following changes:
– The official release of version 3.0.0
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the official release of unc0ver v3.0.0 still doesn’t include full support for A12(X) devices, a limitation that won’t be changed anytime soon given Saurik’s inability to update Cydia Substrate for these devices at the time of this writing. Instead, Pwn20wnd says he’ll work on perfecting Substitute for A12(X) devices, which is ‘better than nothing’ to most jailbreakers.
Now that unc0ver v3.0.0 is officially out of its beta stages, we can officially recommend it to everyone. It’s stable enough to be deployed on any supported iOS 11.0-12.1.2 handset, and will install Cydia on all devices except for A12(X).
If you’re already using unc0ver, then it’s recommended that you download and run the latest version of the jailbreak tool from Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub page. If you haven’t yet used unc0ver, then you can follow our step-by-step tutorial to jailbreak iOS 11 or iOS 12 today.
It’s worth noting that the Electra Team is also nearing the release of Electra12, which will compete directly with unc0ver for iOS 12 and A12(X) market share. Details are slim at this moment in time, but we’ll continue to keep you updated as more details surface.
