Centaur supercharges Notification Center with modules and other new features

There’s no better place in iOS to look for missed notifications than the Notification Center itself, but you wouldn’t be alone if you thought that the native Notification Center interface could benefit from a facelift.

If you’re in the market for a refreshed Notification Center interface, then you just might come to appreciate a newly-released jailbreak tweak called Centaur by iOS developer Muirey03. Centaur reimagines Notification Center by incorporating a slew of useful features like Control Center toggles, device information, and music controls, to name a few:

As depicted in the screenshot examples above, Centaur replaces the standard full-screen Notification Center interface with something a bit more modular. The primary interface contains each of Centaur’s modules, but you can pull down on the grabber at the bottom of the interface to reveal all and any missed notifications. From there, two specialized buttons let you clear all missed notifications or re-collapse the interface.

Centaur is fully-customizable, and once installed, you’ll find a preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Enable or disable any of Centaur’s available modules
    • Device Info
    • Music Controls
    • Control Center Toggles
    • Notifications
  • Adjust the interface’s top padding
  • Adjust the interface’s side padding
  • Adjust the interface’s translucency
  • Adjust the interface’s corner radius
  • Adjust the interface’s background darkness
  • Configure a custom background color
  • Configure a custom text color
  • Configure a custom battery charging color
  • Reset all settings to their defaults

At the top-right of the preference pane, you’ll discern a Respring button. The developer provides this option so you can save any changes you make to the tweak’s settings, and we’d advise using it such that those changes are appended to your handset.

Centaur appears to be a significant upgrade from the native Notification Center interface, and if you’re interested in trying it for yourself, then you can download it for $2.00 from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. It’s worth noting that Centaur supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices, including the A12(X) variety.

Do you think Centaur is a worthy upgrade from the native Notification Center interface? Discuss in the comments section below.
