This free jailbreak tweak lets jailbreakers add unsupported cards to the Wallet app

iOS has evolved a lot over the years, with some of those updates adding support for new types of payment, identification, and transit cards in the operating system’s native Wallet app. Unfortunately, anyone using an older version of iOS won’t see these perks, which is especially troublesome for jailbreakers who can’t update to the latest firmware without losing their jailbreaks.

Enter NoTransitCardVersionLimit, a new and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Brend0n that allows jailbreakers on earlier versions of iOS to add said types of cards that would normally only be supported by the Wallet app on more current versions of iOS.

Citing the developer’s tweak depiction, NoTransitCardVersionLimit works its magic by making the Wallet app think you’re using a newer version of iOS than you really are. By doing so, you’re able to add various cards that wouldn’t normally be supported on your firmware version because many of the Wallet app’s features are server-based.

In a thread posted to /r/jailbreak, a user describes adding a traffic card to the Wallet app on iOS 13.4.1 that would normally only be supported by the Wallet app on iOS 13.5 and later. What’s more is the user had success in using the card, so it wasn’t just added to the Wallet app for looks. Similar success stories were shared in the replies to the original post.

It’s worth noting that cards added to the Wallet app by way of NoTransitCardVersionLimit will only work while in a jailbroken state because they’re otherwise unsupported in a non-jailbroken state. Having said that, this is something to keep in mind if you tend to let your battery run out more often than most, or if you experience frequent reboots because of other reasons.

Given the obvious pitfalls of being limited in what you can and can’t add based on the firmware version you’re running, it’s easy to see why jailbreakers would want to use a tweak like NoTransitCardVersionLimit to bypass such silly software restrictions.

If you’re interested in giving NoTransitCardVersionLimit a try, then you can download the tweak for free from Brend0n’s personal repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices and doesn’t come with any options to configure.

Those who aren’t already using Brend0n’s personal repository can add it to their package manager app of choice by using the URL we’ve provided below:
