While lots of iPhone and iPad users depend on their Lock Screen as a layer of protection for keeping unwarranted users users out, a smaller subset see it as a nuisance barrier to their handset usage altogether.
Given the sentiment above, iOS developer WilsonTheWolf has made a free jailbreak tweak calledĀ Unlocker that helps users avoid having to unlock their device so they can dive right into it every time they pick it up.
Once installed, Unlocker keeps your device unlocked all the time. The developer describes an analogy below:
Unlocker prevents the method that locks the device from running. This is like sticking a brick in a door to prevent it from closing. It does not see your password at all.
This means you wonāt be promoted to enter a passcode, authenticate yourself, or even swipe on the Lock X Screen for that matter after the device falls asleep, and thatās because it hasnāt locked.
Obviously, even those who donāt want to deal with a Lock Screen on a regular basis recognize that thereās a time and place for the additional layer of security. With that in mind, the developer did include a Control Center toggle by way of CCSupport that lets users toggle the tweak on or off on demand:
And if that wasnāt enough, users can toggle the tweak on or off from the deviated toggle switch in the a settings app as well:
With Unlocker being as configurable as it is, the developer makes it feasible to prevent lockingĀ in safe places, such as when youāre alone at home with no chance of intrusion. Likewise, you can toggle it back on again in higher-risk areas where your handset is more likely to fall into othersā hands and locking would come in handy.
Those interested in giving the Unlocker tweak a try can download it for free from WilsonTheWolfās personal repository via their favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices and is open source on the developerās GitHub page.
