Jailbreak tweaks of the week: BackgroundPiP, KillControl, & more…

If you’re poking around looking for some news about the iPhone and iPad jailbreak community, then you’ve come to the right place. iDB proudly monitors new developments in the community to keep our readers up to date.

In this roundup, we’ll be taking a closer look at what’s new for the week of Monday, July 4th through Sunday, July 10th. As usual, we’ll kick things off by showcasing our favorite jailbreak tweaks first and then wrap things up with an outline of everything else toward the end.

Our favorite releases this week

BackgroundPiP – FREE

There are certain scenarios where a Picture-in-Picture mode video will stop playing, such as when you lock your device or open Notification Center, and BackgroundPiP is a jailbreak tweak intended to fix that.

This already happens in iOS & iPadOS 15, but since iOS & iPadOS 14 stop playing Picture-in-Picture videos when you lock your device, it’s one way to keep your aging iOS 14 install feel modern.

You can learn more about BackgroundPiP and how it works in our full review post.

ExitTagConfirm – FREE

It’s too easy to accidentally dismiss the song-tagging interface in the popular SoundHound app, but one developer has made a way to prevent accidental dismissals.

With ExitTagConfirm, users will need to confirm that they actually want to dismiss the song-tagging interface of the SoundHound app before they do, making it that much tougher to do so.

You can learn more about ExitTagConfirm in our full review post.

KillControl – FREE

KillControl is a handy jailbreak tweak that automates the process of doing something that a lot of iPhone and iPad users do, and that would be forcefully closing apps out of the App Switcher.

This tweak makes it possible to automate that process when swiping down on an App Switcher card, launching a specific app, or locking your device. It can even blacklist certain apps or prevent Now Playing apps from being forcefully closed.

You can learn everything you need to know about KillControl in our full review post.
