IconShadow brings background shadows to your Home Screen icons

When Apple went full-on anti-skeuomorphic starting with iOS 7, one of the things they did away with was the icon shadows on the Home Screen.

With some of the newer iterations of iOS moving away from total flatness, it seems like a better time than ever to have Home Screen app icon shadows once more. This is especially the case if you’re using a theme that has any degree of app icon realism.

If you’re interested in app icon shadows for your Home Screen, then you might want to check out a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called IconShadow by iOS developer Mario Cheung.

As you can see in the before (left) and after (right) screenshot examples above, the IconShadow tweak adds subtle background shadows to the icons on your Home Screen.

The shadows aren’t overpowering, nor are they so subtle that they go unnoticed. One thing is certain, however, and it’s that the icon shadows look best against brighter wallpapers since they almost seem to disappear against darker wallpapers.

IconShadow is a simple tweak with a single purpose, and as such, it doesn’t have any options to configure. Once installed, the icon shadows should appear, whereas uninstalling the tweak removes them.

If you’re interested in giving IconShadow a try for yourself, then you can download it for free from Mario Cheung’s repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices.

To add Mario Cheung’s repository to your package manager app if you’re not already using it, you can use the following URL:
