TrollStore developer opa334 successfully fixes dreaded Wi-Fi bug in Fugu15 jailbreak

If you’ve been following Linus Henze’s Fugu15 jailbreak since it was first announced last October, then you’d know it’s currently only intended for developers and that a couple of significant caveats prevent it from being totally user-friendly.

Among those caveats are the lack of tweak injection support and an annoying Wi-Fi bug that would disrupt the ability to use Wi-Fi on certain devices. But in the limelight of successful tweak injection on the Fugu15 platform over this past weekend, it seems that even the Wi-Fi bug problem is being squashed.

The announcement came by way of TrollStore developer opa334, who just Wednesday afternoon Tweeted an image of the Fugu15 jailbreak app on an iOS 15.1.1 device with a working Wi-Fi connection. Opa334 then challenged their followers to see if they could spot the important detail in the screenshot, which many people did.

In another Tweet shared several minutes later, opa334 shared a link to a GitHub page forked from Linus Henze’s Fugu15 project entitled “FIX WIFI BUG.” Another follow-up Tweet revealed some important details about the fix:

Wi-Fi still has to be disabled during jailbreaking, with this commit it can be reenabled after the jailbreak is done though. Once Fugu15 Max is more mature, this will be automatically handled by the app (which is possible due to arbitrary entitlements).

With that major hurtle out of the way, developers can now spend more time focusing on getting tweak injection integrated. While this was demoed earlier this week, opa334 warned in comments in a /r/jailbreak post that it’s still not ready for the public just yet and is still a ways out.

Having said all that, while a publicly-usable Fugu15 jailbreak seems like a very real possibility at this point, it’s certainly not ready at this second in time. With a bit more patience, however, good things will come to those who wait as this developer-only jailbreak inches closer to a public jailbreak.

Fugu15 is a semi-untethered jailbreak tool with a perma-signed jailbreak app that supports iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1 on arm64e devices including the iPhone XS and newer. Older devices such as the iPhone X and earlier can use palera1n to jailbreak instead.
