This new jailbreak tweak enables Live Text on unsupported iOS 15 devices

Live Text is one of those cool, but somewhat niche features in iOS 15 that lets users interact with text in an image like it was text in a document. The feature works in images, videos, and even while looking through the camera lens in real time.

Unfortunately, Apple prevents older devices capable of running iOS 15 from being able to use Live Text. We’re talking of course about A9-A11 devices, which include the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X; you know, the high-demand devices that can currently be jailbroken on iOS 15 with palera1n?

But don’t fret, because iOS developer PoomSmart has come to our rescue yet again with the release of a new and free jailbreak tweak called Live Text Enabler, which allows the aforementioned devices to use Live Text on iOS 15 despite not being officially supported by Apple.

This extremely simple jailbreak tweak merely flips a Boolean statement from false to true, enabling the native Live Text feature on these devices. With that in mind, keeping Live Text disabled on those devices was purely software shenanigans on Apple’s part to make newer devices seem more appealing and capable than their predecessors – a sales push.

If you’re using any of the palera1n-compatible iOS 15 devices and you’re running that jailbreak currently, then you may want to take advantage of Live Text Enabler to unlock modern features on what may feel like an aging handset at this point.

Live Text Enabler is available as a free download from PoomSmart’s personal repository via any of your preferred package manager apps. Obviously, the tweak is only intended for jailbroken A9-A11 devices running iOS 15 via palera1n. There are no options to configure.

Anyone not already using PoomSmart’s personal repository can add it to their package manager app of choice by using the URL provided below:

Note: If you’re using an iOS 14 device and would like to use Live Text, consider checking out the NotLiveText jailbreak tweak instead.
