Haptic Touch — some people love it, and others hate it. It’s a feature that lets iPhone users tap and hold on certain items on their screen to perform actions using otherwise hidden menus.
If you love Haptic Touch, then you’ll be happy to know your iPhone comes with it from the factory with no way to turn it off. But those who dislike Haptic Touch will need to turn to alternative options, such as the free FxxkHapticTouch jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Michael Melita.
Citing a post shared by the developer to /r/jailbreak, the tweak is intended to work with rootless jailbreaks and works by adding a massive delay to the activation time — so large, in fact, that you probably won’t ever accidentally activate it again.
This is a good thing, because accidental activations are perhaps the most common reason why someone would dislike Haptic Touch. It’s easy to see how menus peeking and popping everywhere while you try to use your iPhone could get annoying, especially for someone who’s accessibility challenged.
The post goes on to explain that the tweak already existed for rootful jailbreaks as a FLEX patch by MingChang137. This tweak, however, serves rootless jailbreak users.
If you’re interested in learning more about FxxkHapticTouch, or downloading it for yourself, then you can acquire it for free from the developer’s GitHub page where the tweak is also open source. You can then install the tweak via your favorite package manager app.
With no options to configure, the tweak is easy to use because it gets straight to the point of disabling Haptic Touch. Should you change your mind in the future, you can simply uninstall the tweak.
