If you look at the Lock Screen’s Now Playing media interface on an iOS 16 device beside an iOS 15 device, then you should notice some aesthetic differences.
iOS developer ETHN has just released a new jailbreak tweak called SixteenMusic that ports the newer Lock Screen Now Playing aesthetics to older, jailbroken versions of iOS so that even users who avoid updates can feel like they’re using the latest software.
As you can see in the screenshot examples above, the SixteenMusic UI gives users a nice view of the album artwork and easy-to-understand media controls that should look and feel familiar if you’ve ever used an iOS 16 device before.
You’ll see that the tweak supports both portrait and landscape orientation, and that it plays nicely with missed notifications to ensure you can see everything that matters at a glance.
Once installed, users will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where they can configure SixteenMusic to their liking:
Options to configure here include:
- Enabling and disabling SixteenMusic on demand
- Disabling the background
- Enabling landscape orientation support
- Choosing between normal, compact, or large Now Playing styles
The developer provides an Apply button at the top right of the preference pane in the form of a check mark that allows you to save any changes you make here.
Since people have different opinions on what looks best, it’s brilliant that the developer not only ported the iOS 16 aesthetics to jailbroken iOS 14 and 15 devices with SixteenMusic, but also gave users the choice to select their now Playing style.
If you’re interested in giving your pwned handset’s Now Playing interface a boost by making it look and feel more like an iOS 16 device, then you can purchase the new SixteenMusic jailbreak tweak from the Havoc repository for just $0.99.
