The tvOS edition of the Misaka package manager app by iOS developer @straight_tamago received an update on Sunday to version 4.0 with some notable improvements.
In the post on X (formerly Twitter) that @straight_tamago shared early this morning, it was revealed that Misaka v4.0 for tvOS introduces a redesigned user interface and an important fix for a the read and export bugs.
In the screenshot examples embedded below, you can see that the updated user interface looks a lot nicer than it did originally, which will vastly improve the user experience for those using this project on Apple TVs.
The main interface provides a kopen button, a Settings button, and a Respring button on the Apple TV. The Settings page gives users the ability to choose their exploit preference (MacDirtyCow or Kernel File Descriptor), and more. These same settings exist in the iPhone & iPad app.
According to @straight_tamago, who we spoke with privately, this is very the final update to Misaka for tvOS unless any bug fixes become required in the near future.
It’s worth noting that there aren’t any tvOS-specific add-ons available in Misaka just yet, but the developer has suggested trying various iOS hacks to see if they work on tvOS.
If you’re interested in learning more about Misaka for tvOS, then you can head over to the project’s GitHub page where it’s available as a free download and can be installed via the network setting in Sideloadly. Existing users are urged to install the latest update at their earliest convenience.
