Misaka project team members released another update to the package manager app for MacDirtyCow and kfd exploit-vulnerable devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.1.2 and 16.2-16.5 respectively on Saturday, officially bringing the utility up to version 2.1.0 beta.
The update, announced via the team’s official Discord server Saturday afternoon, appears to bring the following changes:
1. Fix kfd panic on iOS 16.2-16.3.1 for all iPhone and iPad (on supported list)
2. Remove delay time for kfd exploit -> Exploit faster
3. Adding some icon for Misaka’s app
As you will recall, Misaka originally only supported the kfd exploit on iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.5 arm64e devices (A12 and newer), but after today’s update, even older arm64 devices are supported.
In addition to adding support for more devices, the team says that the delays that were in place have been removed to make the exploit faster. This means that taking advantage of Misaka will be a more user-friendly experience.
The Misaka package manager is a lot like a package manager app on a jailbroken device such as Sileo or Cydia in that it lets you search for and install add-ons that customize the system user interface, however it doesn’t require a jailbreak to use. Even so, jailbreakers can still use Misaka.
If you’re an existing Misaka app user, then you’ll be prompted to install the latest update shortly after launching the app before continuing to use it. Prospective users, on the other hand, can follow the steps outlined in our tutorial to get started with the Misaka app for the first time.
