Lunar is a redesigned Lock Screen tweak with widgets for jailbroken iOS 16 devices

Lots of people like it when their Lock Screen interface is as simple as possible. Perhaps even simpler than Apple makes it right out of the box.

For users who demand more, a newly released jailbreak tweak called Lunar by iOS developers haxi0sm and sourcelocation combines minimalism with utilitarianism to produce a more desirable effect.

As you can see in the screenshot examples above, the new Lock Screen adds a widget to the interface while still keeping a compact footprint. It looks great with wallpapers that users may want to show off.

There are three lines of text in the redesigned Lock Screen interface. The first, shown in a smaller font, displays the date and your Focus status. The second, displayed in a large font, displays the time. The last, which is again a smaller font, displays widget text.

Currently, Lunar comes with at least two different widgets including weather conditions and battery level. The weatherwidget shows the temperature outside while the battery level displays your current percentage. Notably, battery percentage can already be displayed in the Status Bar and weather information can already be displayed on a stock iOS 16 Lock Screen with the stock widget, but the developers say that more widgets are coming in the future.

We should also mention that the tweak provides a preference pane in the Settings app where all text items can be aligned to the left, center, or right and you can also select your preferred widget there.

Who is Lunar for? We’d say it’s for folks who want something a little different on their Lock Screen than Apple provides out of the box. After all, much of the information currently provided can already be seen on a non-jailbroken device, so you’re paying for the aesthetic and for the promise for future widgets.

If you’re interested in giving Lunar a try, then you can acquire it for $1.99 from the Havoc repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 16 devices only.
