Important news tidbits from this week
How to jailbreak iOS or iPadOS 15.x with palera1n
We show you step-by-step how to take advantage of the developer-centric checkm8 bootrom exploit-based palera1n jailbreak tool for A9-A11 devices running iOS or iPadOS 15.x.
Please note that while this jailbreak isn’t rootless and supports jailbreak tweaks, it’s more complicated to install than traditional jailbreaks due to command line usage, and may be buggier than everyday jailbreaks.
You can find our how to move forward with palera1n in our full tutorial.
Tweak injection achieved on iOS 15.0-15.1.2 on A12-A15 devices
Developer @xina520 has shared screenshots of what appear to be working tweak injection on iOS 15.0-15.1.1 on non-checkm8 devices, or more specifically, those with A12-A15 chips inside.
The showcase reveals what appears to be a proprietary jailbreak and some kind of unknown tweak injection method fashioned together using work from several developers. It appears to be a step in the right direction for the community thus far.
You can learn more about the tweak injection shown off by @xina520 in our full news post.
Tweak injection on palera1n now supports up to iOS 15.7.1
The palera1n jailbreak team announced recently that they were attempting to add support for tweak injection for checkm8-compatible devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.7.1.
Tweak injection is what allows jailbreak tweaks to run, and from what we can gather, palera1n uses Substitute-based tweak injection.
You can learn more about the announcement and what it means in our full news post.
CoolStar: Don’t expect Cheyote iOS 15.0-15.1.1 jailbreak in 2022
Odyssey Team lead developer CoolStar on Tuesday confirmed that she doesn’t plan to release the Cheyote jailbreak for iOS 15.0-15.1.1 in 2022.
CoolStar has been busy in other areas of hacking, including the ChromeBook scene, and may demo a working jailbreak in April of 2023, but hasn’t committed to a release.
You can learn more about this in our full news post.
Protect against a Shortcuts app vulnerability on iOS 15.0-15.3.1
After the palera1n team added support for tweak injection on more devices, iOS developer 0xilis released a new jailbreak tweak for palera1n users who want to protect themselves against a vulnerability in the Shortcuts app that had been patched in iOS & iPadOS 15.4.
With that in mind, the tweak patches the vulnerability for users on iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.3.1 and does so by stripping any instances where the vulnerability could be used from the Shortcut pre-importation.

TrollStore version 1.4 released
TrollStore received an update to version 1.4 on Saturday with a new FuguInstall method for apps and the ability to uninstall perma-signed apps via the Home Screen, among other things.
This update is recommended for all users, existing and new, and according to the developer, it’s likely to be the last substantial feature update to the platform notwithstanding bug fixes that may need to be addressed in the future.
You can learn more about TrollStore version 1.4 in our full news post.
