Important stuff from this week
g1lbertCFW untethered iPhone 4s jailbreak for iOS 5.1 released
We know, it’s 2023. But a team of developers have just released the first untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1 — just 4,127 days later…
The new jailbreak, called g1lbertCFW, is intended for developers who wish to perform additional testing on a device and firmware combination that previously couldn’t be jailbroken untethered until now.
Those interested in learning more about g1lbertCFW can find out more in our full news post.
iOS & iPadOS 16.5 Unsigned
Apple stopped signing iOS & iPadOS 16.5 this past week, a move that prevents ordinary iPhone and iPad users from downgrading from the newer iOS & iPadOS 16.5.1.
You can learn more about how this impacts users in our full news post.
Keep Apollo working on jailbroken iPhones
The new ApolloAPI jailbreak tweak allows users to utilize their own Reddit account’s API credentials to continue using their Apollo app on their pwned iPhone or iPad.
This requires utilizing the same credentials you would use if testing an app under Reddit’s developer policy that you created yourself.
You can learn more about ApolloAPI in our full review post.
CircleApps15
If you’re interested in a convenient and aesthetically-pleasing way to access your favorite or recently-used apps from anywhere in iOS, then a jailbreak tweak called CircleApps15 should be on your list.
With CircleApps15, you can summon an app launcher from virtually anywhere and use it to open your apps from the convenience of the dedicated interface.
You can learn more about CircleApps15 in our full review post.
Snapper 3
One of the things I really appreciate about the screenshot capabilities in macOS is being able to capture cropped screenshots right from the get-go, and with the Snapper 3 jailbreak tweak, you can now do the same on your iPhone or iPad.
More than that, however, you can use this tweak to keep that screenshot over the top of whatever interface you’re using as a reference, or you can use it to read QR codes directly from the screen. The tweak also makes sharing those screenshots a lot easier.
You can learn more about Snapper 3 and the ways it can benefit your usage in our full review post.
IntelligentPass 5
You don’t always need your iPhone or iPad’s passcode, such as when you’re safe at home and just chilling on the couch with some Netflix, but you definitely do when you’re out and about.
IntelligentPass 5 takes these factors into consideration to make using your device more convenient in those low-risk situations. With it, your passcode can be disabled automatically when connected to your Home Wi-Fi, when certain devices are connected to your device, on a time schedule, and more.
You can learn more about IntelligentPass 5 and how it works in our full review post.
LendMyPhone 5
Being able to have a guest mode on your Mac is useful for a bevy of reasons, such as allowing a friend or stranger to use your Mac while insulating your personal files and data so that they can’t snoop.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the case on iOS or iPadOS, and ironically, more people ask to use my phone to make a phone call than people ask me to use my Mac, so it seems like the LendMyPhone 5 tweak which brings a true guest mode experience to your mobile devices is a tweak ahead of its time.
You can learn all about the LendMyPhone 5 tweak and how it can enhance your device’s guest user friendliness in our full review post.
CalcLog
There’s no reason why the iPhone’s native Calculator app shouldn’t display what you’ve already entered into the app before you tap the ‘=’ button. Fortunately, iOS developer alias20 has a solution for Apple’s UI/UX pitfall in the form of CalcLog.
This simple jailbreak tweak allows you to see what you’ve already entered into the Calculator app, both during and after calculations. It’s perfect for avoiding those awkward moments where you’ve forgotten what you’ve entered and clear the Calculator to start all over again.
You can learn more about CalcLog and why we think it’s brilliant in our full review post.
KillBackground13 gets rootless support
If you’re one to close out of all your App Switcher apps every time you finish using your device, then you’re probably familiar with the cumbersome process of swiping up on every app preview card to make them go away.
The KillBackground13 jailbreak tweak lets you do this in one tap, and it can even whitelist certain apps you might want to keep in the background when you do this, such as Now Playing and navigation apps.
KillBackground13 now supports rootless jailbreaks on iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16, and you can learn more about it in our full news post.
MenuSupport gets rootless support
The MenuSupport jailbreak tweak that makes it much better to use the text selection menus in iOS & iPadOS has been updated to support the rootless dynamic of the Dopamine and palera1n jailbreaks.
With this tweak, text selection menus become icon-based instead of word-based and can accept third-party add-ones made by developers.
You can learn more about MenuSupport in our full news post.
NoisyFlake makes all tweaks free
iOS developer NoisyFlake is departing the jailbreak community after many years of dedication and service related to making high-quality jailbreak tweaks that improve people’s lives.
While sad indeed, those who still jailbreak can currently download all of their jailbreak tweaks for free. All of those tweaks are also open source on the developer’s GitHub page.
You can learn more about NoisyFlake’s decision in our full news post.
