Dopamine v1.1.3 & v1.1.4 released

The Dopamine jailbreak tool by iOS developer Lars Fröder was updated to versions 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 this week with a number of under-the-hood improvements aimed at stabilizing the jailbreak experience.

The update is easily installed via the in-app over-the-air update mechanism, however installing the update will require a full-fledged device reboot as opposed to a basic userspace reboot.

Blackbird SEP exploit used to downgrade iPhone firmware

A talented developer has found a way to use the blackbird SEP (Secure Enclave Processor) exploit to downgrade iPhone firmware for the first time.

This feat works with and without SHSH blobs, however with SHSH blobs, it’s untethered and without SHSH blobs, it’s tethered.

Picasso for kfd

Picasso is a new jailed toolbox app for the kfd exploit that provides users with a ton of SpringBoard-centric customization options without the need for a jailbreak.

The app is a lot like a slimmed down version of Cowabunga for the MacDirtyCow exploit, except that it supports A12-A16 devices running iOS 16.0-16.6 beta 1.

KFDFontOverwrite for kfd

KFDFontOverwrite.KFDFontOverwrite.

A new add-on available for non-jailbroken devices running up to and including iOS 16.6 beta 1 called KFDFontOverwrite allows for MacDirtyCow-like font modifications using only the new kfd exploit.

YellowPages 2

The YellowPages 2 jailbreak tweak is now out as a second iteration of a popular add-on for jailbroken handsets that allows users to have more control over their incoming phone call caller ID features.

The tweak uses the Truecaller app’s database to tell you who’s calling and whether it’s a spam call or not. Furthermore, the tweak now supports the latest rootless jailbreaks.

Marker gets rootless support

The popular Marker jailbreak tweak that provides a better text editing experience on jailbroken devices has been updated this week to version 2.0 with support for rootless iOS 15 and 16 jailbreaks.

This tweak is an alternative to SwipeSelection that makes it easier to select text for editing and plays nicely with native keyboard swipe gestures and other keyboard-centric jailbreak tweaks.

Plampy Settings

You can now get Plampy-inspired aesthetics for your iPhone’s Settings app in addition to inside of Control Center with a new MacDirtyCow add-on called Plampy Settings.

Misaka and kfd

It was a big week for the Misaka package manager app, which hosts jailed add-on customizations for devices vulnerable to either the MacDirtyCow or kfd exploits.

After first announcing that kfd support would come to Misaka, it received that support the very next day.

Since then, Misaka has received regular software updates with bug fixes and improvements to include the following:

Apple unsigns iOS 16.5.1

Apple stopped signing iOS & iPadOS 16.5.1 this week in a predictable move after releasing iOS & iPadOS 16.6 last week with security improvements.

The move prevents users from downgrading their firmware voluntarily, instead forcing users to update to the latest via iTunes and Finder.
