Amazon is the go-to website for millions of customers every year. It lets you view your online shopping history on your phone, desktop PC, Mac, or Chromebook. You might want to hide select Amazon orders from family members who share your account. Perhaps it’s a secret birthday present or something you’re embarrassed about. You can’t delete an item from your order history, but Amazon lets you archive orders to keep them out of sight. This tutorial shows you how to find and archive your Amazon orders.

How to archive Amazon orders

There isn’t a way to delete orders from your Amazon browsing history. The best you can do is to hide (aka archive) them:

  1. Visit the Amazon website on your computer.
  2. Hover the mouse cursor over the Accounts & Lists option in the upper-right corner.
  3. Choose Your Orders from the drop-down menu.

  5. A popup confirmation dialog appears. Click the yellow Archive order button to hide the order.

If you are archiving an open order because you purchased it as a surprise gift from someone, use Amazon Locker and Amazon Counter to pick up the order in secret.

How to view archived orders on Amazon

The benefit of archiving an order instead of deleting it is that you can still view it if needed. You can also unarchive orders to add them to your regular order history page. Here is how to view and unarchive your archived orders on Amazon.

  1. On your computer, go to Amazon.com.
  2. Hover your mouse over the Account & Lists option and click Your Orders.

Drawbacks of Amazon archive order feature

While we appreciate that there’s a way to hide Amazon orders, anyone actively looking for hidden orders can find them. There isn’t a way to permanently delete an order or hide the archived orders behind a password. Another drawback of this feature is that you cannot archive or unarchive orders from the iOS and Android apps. You must use a web browser on your computer or access the Amazon desktop site on mobile devices.

Also, on both the desktop and the mobile app, anyone can view the archived orders by entering the item name in the search bar. However, it isn’t too bad since you must know what to look for. The real issue is that archiving an order doesn’t remove the item from your Buy Again list. If order obfuscation is your objective, remove it from Buy Again.

  1. On your Amazon order history page, choose the Buy Again option.

Share your Amazon Prime membership instead of your login

Although you can hide items by archiving them, the best way to keep order details private is to stop sharing your Amazon account. Instead, share the benefits of your Amazon Prime membership. But if Prime isn’t doing it for you, cancel your subscription using the Amazon app or desktop site.
