Jailbreak developer Lars Fröder launched an updated version of the Dopamine jailbreak tool on Saturday, July 8th, officially bringing the tool up to version 1.1.1.
Fröder announced the latest version of the tool in a Tweet shared Saturday afternoon, pointing to the GitHub page where the following change log presents itself:
- Add crash reporter for launchd crash reports, when launchd crashes now you will receive a detailed separate crash log, alongside the (incredibly cryptic) “initproc exited” panic
- Fix several wrong offsets related to the ptrace hook
- Fix bug in macho parser where it would fail when parsing the dependencies from certain libraries
- Improve Wi-Fi re-enable reliability
- Update opainject to 1.0.6
Among the changes is a fix for a problem I’ve personally experienced with Wi-Fi not being re-enabled after Dopamine version 1.1.0 launched. Additionally, the update adds a crash reporter that makes tracing bugs easier and addresses bugs and other issues discovered in previous releases.
If you’re unfamiliar with Dopamine, it’s a rootless jailbreak intended for arm64e devices (A12-A15) running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1. Many jailbreak tweak developers have either updated their jailbreak tweaks to support the rootless dynamic following Dopamine’s release or are now starting to produce rootless-compatible jailbreak tweaks.
Not sure what a rootless jailbreak means? We wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t. It’s a relatively misunderstood dynamic that gets a negative rap when compared to previous full-fledged jailbreaks, but jailbreak developers have managed to make the user experience feel just like a full-fledged jailbreak. You can learn more about the differences between a rootless and a rootful jailbreak in our F.A.Q. post.
Another benefit of the Dopamine jailbreak is its compatibility with the TrollStore perma-signing utility, which is actually the recommended installation method discussed in our step-by-step tutorial. Thanks to being perma-signed, the app always works even after reboots without having to be re-signed. This makes it a semi-untethered jailbreak tool.
If you’re an existing Dopamine jailbreak user, then you can download the latest version directly from the Dopamine app’s internal over the air (OTA) update mechanism. Alternatively, you can visit the project’s GitHub page where you can also view the source code to learn more about how it works.
