Chimera jailbreak updated to v1.6.5 with support for iOS 12.5.7

The Chimera jailbreak tool for iOS 12 devices received its final end of life (EOL) update late Monday night adding support for iOS 12.5.7.

The announcement was made by former Odyssey Team member and lead developer CoolStar, who formally announced her departure the jailbreak community late last night, confirming what many had already known.

The update to Chimera is intended to modernize the jailbreak to support the latest release of iOS 12, which Apple only just released in January to address security flaws in older versions of the firmware for iPhones and iPads.

Chimera is still a semi-untethered jailbreak tool, which means that it comes in the form of a sideloadable app that can be installed with utilities such as AltStore or Sideloadly, and the app must be re-signed every seven days.

If you’re lucky enough, you might also find a signing service, which can provide the app and a certificate that keeps the jailbreak signed for up to one year, as long as it doesn’t get revoked before then.

Barely anybody uses iOS 12 anymore apart from perhaps the small subset of legacy devices that aren’t able to run iOS or iPadOS 13. Having said that, Chimera isn’t as relevant today as it once was, but it’s still good to see this final update to support the latest iteration of iOS 12; A.K.A. iOS 12.5.7.

As always, the latest version of Chimera can be had from the website below:
