AT&T users across the country are having some major connectivity problems with the network. There are a range of issues being reported, from customers completely losing service, to simply not being able to make out-of-network calls, but there have also been reports of 911 calls not going through. AT&T issued a statement to CNN that said “The carriers are working as quickly as possible to diagnose and resolve the issue.”

Services started going down around 1 pm EST and people have been dealing with a range of problems. Some can’t make any outbound calls but are receiving limited incoming calls. Some are having trouble with text messaging, while others are texting without problems. ABC 8 News in Virginia reported that up to 25 states were impacted by 911 outages, which AT&T says have since been restored. Verizon also appears to have been caught up in the outages, though not to the same degree as AT&T.

As is tradition when a carrier or service goes down, the affected users have flocked to social media where AT&T has reached out to a few customers providing solace, if not more details.

Today’s outage is an echo of the one that AT&T customers woke up to back in February that raged for 8 hours from 4 to 12 pm. According to AT&T, that outage “was due to the application and

execution of an incorrect process used while working to expand our network.” Reports for today’s outage are still coming in, though the numbers appear to be tapering off. We have reached out to AT&T for a comment, but they have yet to respond. They’re probably busy.
