Alpine brings modern tvOS notification and prompt aesthetics to jailbroken iPhones

One of the brilliant features of tvOS is the uniquely crafted notification system that blurs the background of any prompt to bring your attention directly to the options at hand.

With a new jailbreak tweak called Alpine by iOS developer MTAC, you can now enjoy the same user experience described above from tvOS on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad.

The idea being porting tvOS notification and alert aesthetics to the iPhone and iPad isn’t new, but Alpine rips the latest design changes of tvOS and brings them to our mobile devices with options to configure them more comprehensively.

As you can likely discern for yourself in the screenshot examples above and below, Alpine makes your notifications and pop-up prompts more aesthetically pleasing by drawing your eyes to the options you can choose from whenever a prompt pops up.

You might’ve noticed that the blur effect only appears in some of the examples, and this is because users have the option to enable or disable the blur effect depending on their needs.

Once installed, Alpine adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure the tweak however you see fit:

Options here include:

  • Toggling Alpine on or off on demand
  • Displaying a test alert to see what your options will look like
  • Selecting individual apps where Alpine will and won’t operate
  • Changing the blur style of the Alpine background:
    • tvOS style
    • iOS style
  • Enabling or disabling a full-screen blur
  • Configuring an alert style:
    • Default style
    • Dark style
    • Light style
  • Hide the cancel button from prompts
  • Tap anywhere outside of the prompt to dismiss it

After you’ve configured Alpine however you’re happy with it, you can use the apply button at the top right of the preference pane to save any changes to the settings you’ve made.

Even if you aren’t a fan of the tvOS user interface, you’d still have to admit that Apple got something right with the notification and prompt system. Bringing this experience to the iPhone and iPad just seems like a great idea, and we’re happy MTAC has done it.

If you’re interested in trying Alpine out for yourself, then you can purchase it for $1.99 from the Havoc repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 14, 15, and 16 devices, including rootless jailbreaks.
